Miramis puts sustainability first
For Miramis Sweden, a sustainable approach is a given and something we actively work on at every level. In 2022, together with our friends at Djurgården, we received the prestigious “Green Destination Award” from the organization Green Destinations. This is a result of the successful sustainability work that Djurgården carries out in areas such as the environment and climate, culture and tradition, as well as social sustainability and hospitality. We view this wonderful award both as recognition and as inspiration to continue our important sustainability work moving forward.

We support the principles of the UN Global Compact (UNGC), the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Paris Agreement.
The policy guides us in decision-making and in our daily work. It applies to all Miramis Sweden companies, the Board of Directors, and all our employees.
Our Responsibility
It is our responsibility to actively contribute to well-being, equal opportunities, and a minimized environmental footprint throughout the entire value chain. Based on our impact, stakeholder expectations, and external requirements, we have defined six focus areas for our sustainability work:
- Memorable experiences
- Sustainable food & beverage
- Mutually beneficial partnerships
- Attractive employer
- Innovative development
- Resource efficiency & circularity
We strive to continuously improve our sustainability work. That is why we set concrete goals for these areas, assign responsibilities, allocate reasonable resources, and measure our results on an ongoing basis. At Miramis Sweden, we comply with all applicable laws and regulations as well as current collective bargaining agreements.

Resource Efficiency & Circularity
We take environmental impact into account in all our decisions and in our daily work. We are continuously improving resource efficiency and contributing to the circular economy. We ensure that unavoidable waste is managed properly and converted into new resources. We are exploring solutions to become a climate-neutral company.
Control
The Board of Directors of Miramis Sweden bears ultimate responsibility for the implementation of this policy and for sustainability efforts within Miramis Sweden. Each manager is responsible for ensuring that employees are familiar with the policy and understand what it means for their roles and responsibilities.
All employees should understand how they contribute to Miramis Sweden’s sustainability efforts; therefore, Miramis Sweden offers ongoing training in sustainability.
All employees are encouraged and expected to share suggestions for improvement and report deviations or suspected violations of the policy. Reporting will not result in any reprisals or other negative consequences for those who report in good faith.
Deviations are documented, and an action plan is developed to prevent similar deviations in the future.
ISO Certification – 14001
As part of our sustainability efforts, the operations run under the Hasselbacken, Backstage, and Cirkus brands—along with their associated support processes—have chosen to undergo ISO certification aimed at reducing the group’s overall environmental impact. But the ongoing work doesn’t stop there. To maintain the certification, the operations must implement the sustainability measures approved by the ISO certification every day.
Royal Djurgården's sustainability efforts are gaining international attention
Djurgården is one of the world’s most sustainable urban destinations. That’s according to the organization Green Destinations, which awarded Djurgården its highest honor, the Green Destinations Platinum Award, in 2022. The award is given to destinations that excel in sustainability efforts across multiple areas. The criteria include sustainable management, animals and nature, environment and climate, culture and tradition, social sustainability, and hospitality. The criteria are based on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals under the 2030 Agenda. In an independent review, Djurgården’s sustainability efforts over the past six years are highlighted as “an inspiration for other metropolitan destinations, demonstrating that it is possible to operate sustainably even in such settings.”
